The Forager’s Companion is a small, purpose-made field tool, designed for the careful harvesting of mushrooms and light woodland use.

Each piece features a single English flint flake, gathered from Devon. Hand-set into a wild Cornish blackthorn handle. Construction is intentionally simple and repeatable, using resin and traditional bindings, with a jute-wrapped grip for comfort and control. No two pieces are identical.

In form and function, it echoes tools that would have been familiar for thousands of years — inviting the user to step back in time, if only briefly, to a slower and more attentive way of working.

This is not a showpiece or a collector’s knife.
It is a quiet, practical companion — made to be carried, used gently, and kept close.

Every Forager’s Companion is made by hand in small batches and reflects the same material values found across Bowman Lithics’ work, without rarity or ornamentation.

Supplied with a usage and care sheet, along with a Bowman Lithics card.
