Collection: Arrows & Shafts
The Arrows & Shafts collection explores historic arrow forms through contemporary making.
Each piece is built around a knapped arrowhead, shaped in reference to genuine archaeological types and traditional forms. Shafts are individually prepared, stained, marked with burnishing and pigment, and finished using natural bindings and adhesives.
Both full-length arrows and half-shaft studies are produced within the collection. The half arrows place emphasis on the arrowhead itself — allowing form, proportion, and knapping style to be seen clearly, without distraction.
These works are not reproductions in the strict sense.
They are interpretations — made to echo real forms while remaining honest to the hand that made them.
Every piece is supplied with an information sheet describing the referenced style or form, along with a Bowman Lithics card.
Arrows & Shafts sit between the functional and the symbolic — objects once made for use, now remade for study, display, and quiet appreciation.
